The name Palestine is derived from the biblical name Peleshet designating the coastal plain in which the Philistines (Peleshtim) settled in the course of their 12th century (BC) expansion. The Philistines were an Aegean people who were driven out of Greece and the Aegean islands around 1300 BC.
The first time the area which is today named Israel was given the name Palestine was in 135 AD after the Roman conquest of Judea. This was immediately after the Romans crushed the revolt led by Simon Bar Kochba in 135 AD. The Romans renamed the land Syria-Palesitina in an attempt to cancel the Jewish claim to the land. They proceeded to destroy Jerusalem and rename it Aelia Capitolina. But we can still find as late as the 4th century, the Christian author, Epiphanius referring to "Palestine, that is, Judea." Previous to 123 AD (a turning point in Jewish history), there is about 2000 years of Jewish presence and history in the area today termed Israel. Only in 632 AD did the Moslem Arabs invade Syria-Palestina and by 640 AD the area was part of the Moslem empire. This reign lasted 450 years, with first the Omayyads, then the Abbasid dynasty and finally by the Fatimids.

In reality, the Third Reich quickly became a police state, where individuals were subject to arbitrary arrest and imprisonment.
In the first months of his chancellorship, Hitler began a concerted policy of "synchronization," forcing organizations, political parties, and state governments into line with Nazi goals and placing them under Nazi leadership. Culture, the economy, education, and law came under greater Nazi control. Trade unions
were abolished and workers, employees, and employers were forced into Nazi organizations. By mid-July 1933, the Nazi party was the only political party permitted in Germany. The Reichstag (German parliament) became a rubber stamp for Hitler's dictatorship. The Fuehrer's will became the foundation for government policy.
The appointment of Nazi party members to government positions increased Hitler's authority over state officials. According to the Nazi party's leadership principle, authority flowed down from above and absolute obedience towards one's superior was expected at each level of the Nazi hierarchy. Hitler was master of the Third Reich.
The Nazis managed to recruit some Moslems directly. Several Moslem SS divisions were raised: the Skanderbeg Division from Albania, the Handschar Division from Bosnia, and smaller units from throughout the Moslem world from Chechnya to Uzbekistan were incorporated into the German armed forces in one capacity or another. This was only taking the first step in Heinrich Himmler’s planned grand alliance between Nazi Germany and the Islamic world. One of his closest aides, Obergruppenführer Gottlob Berger, boasted that "a link is created between Islam and National-Socialism on an open, honest basis. It will be directed in terms of blood and race from the North, and in the ideological-spiritual sphere from the East."
What an image: a Nazi-Moslem alliance to conquer the world! Naturally, totalitarian ideology (as shown by the Sino-Soviet and Iran-Taliban splits, for example) is a notoriously weak glue, so it is questionable how far this could have prospered. But the thought is chilling enough.

Hamas Steals Aid From Palestinians: The Israeli Defense Forces continue to face a good deal of heat from humanitarian groups such as Human Rights Watch, which say the military's tight cordon around Gaza City is taking a punishing toll on civilians who are in desperate need of humanitarian supplies.
Apparently Hamas, the terrorist "government" in Gaza, doesn't agree. As the Jerusalem Post reports:
Hamas on Monday raided some 100 aid trucks that Israel had allowed into Gaza, stole their contents and sold them to the highest bidders.
... Since the beginning of Operation Cast Lead, the IDF has facilitated the transfer of close to 900 trucks into the Gaza Strip with over 20,000 tons of basic food and medical supplies.
So Hamas loots 1 out of 9 aid trucks, not only stealing food and supplies from the mouths of its own people to fund more rockets but also jeopardizing Israel's inclination to allow future relief deliveries.
What are the chances that HRW, the United Nations, and other humanitarian organizations will now express the same outrage over relief access with Hamas that they showed with Israel? Far less than 1 in 9 is my guess.

1) The Lie: “the policies of Hamas are more forthcoming and more conducive to a peaceful settlement than those of the United States or Israel… There is a long-standing international consensus that goes back over thirty years that there should be a two-state political settlement on the international border… Hamas is willing to accept that as a long-term truce.”
The Truth: Hamas remains committed to Israel’s destruction: “Before Israel dies, it must be humiliated and degraded... Allah willing, we will make them lose their eyesight, we will make them lose their brains” (Hamas leader Khaled Mashal); “Oh Allah, vanquish the Jews and their supporters… count their numbers and kill them all, down to the very last one” (Hamas parliamentary speaker Ahmad Bahr).
2) The Lie: “[Hezbollah’s] Nasrallah has a reasoned argument and persuasive argument that they [arms] should be in the hands of Hezbollah as a deterrent to potential aggression...”
The Truth: Hezbollah’s goal is not to deter aggression but to wage war “until the elimination of Israel and until the death of the last Jew on earth.” Nasrallah has pledged to “finish off the entire cancerous Zionist project.” He has stated: “If they [Jews] all gather in Israel, it will save us the trouble of going after them worldwide.”
3) The Lie: “There has been one elected leader in the Middle East, one, who was elected in a reasonably fair, supervised election... namely Yassir Arafat. So how do the great ‘democrats’ like Wolfowitz and Rumsfeld treat him? Lock him up in a compound so that he can be battered by US-provided arms to their local client under military occupation.”
The Truth: Israel and Turkey both had freely elected leaders. The Palestinian elections were rigged, and Arafat’s PLO colleagues compared him to Idi Amin and Saddam Hussein. Arafat was trapped in his compound after he sabotaged the peace process and started a campaign of violence.
4) The Lie: “Clinton-Barak advanced a few steps towards a Bantustan-style settlement… three cantons [in the West Bank], under Israeli control, virtually separated from one another and from the fourth enclave, a small area of East Jerusalem… In the fifth canton, Gaza, the outcome was left unclear except that the population were also to remain virtually imprisoned. It is understandable that maps are not to be found in the US mainstream, or any of the details of the proposals.”
The Truth: The PLO leadership boasted that “Barak agreed to a withdrawal from 95% of the occupied Palestinian lands” and pledged that “our eyes will continue to aspire to the strategic goal, namely, to Palestine from the river to the sea.”
5) The Lie: “These facts are automatically cut out of history, along with others unacceptable to US power, including repeated PLO initiatives through the 1980s calling for negotiations with Israel leading to mutual recognition.”
The Truth: At the end of the 1980s, PLO deputy leader Salah Khalaf (Abu Iyad) declared: “There was no PLO recognition of Israel.” PLO leader Yasser Arafat issued a joint statement with Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi avowing that “the so-called ‘State of Israel’ was one of the consequences of World War II and should disappear, like the Berlin Wall.
6) The Lie: “[By 1982] The PLO was getting extremely annoying [to Israel] with its insistence on [a] negotiated settlement of the conflict.”
The Truth: The PLO stated: “Peace for us means the destruction of Israel… We shall not rest until the day when we return to our home and until we destroy Israel.” The PLO announced: “We wish at any price to liquidate the state of Israel.” The PLO declared: “We shall never allow Israel to live in peace… We shall never recognize Israel...
7) The Lie:“In January 1976, the US was compelled to veto a UN Security Council Resolution calling for a settlement in terms of the international consensus, which now included a Palestinian state alongside Israel… [Israel alleged] that the PLO not only backed this peace plan but in fact ‘prepared’ it; the PLO then condemned ‘the tyranny of the veto’ (in the words of the PLO representative) by which the US blocked this important effort to bring about a peaceful two-state settlement.”
The Truth: The draft UN resolution endorsed the PLO’s “Right of Return” for millions of Palestinian Arabs, which entails the dissolution of Israel. The PLO publicly declared that “this Zionist ghetto of Israel must be destroyed” and stressed that “we will not recognize Israel.”
8) The Lie: “In February 1971, [Sadat] offered Israel a full peace treaty on the pre-June 1967 borders, with security guarantees, recognized borders and so on… Sadat’s offer was in line with the international consensus of the period…”
The Truth: Egypt explained its policy as follows: “There are only two specific Arab goals at present: elimination of the consequences of the 1967 aggression through Israel’s withdrawal from all the lands it occupied that year, and elimination of the consequences of the 1948 aggression through the eradication of Israel.”
9) The Lie: “Keeping to the diplomatic record… both sides, of course, rejected [UN Security Council Resolution] 242.”
The Truth: Israel, Jordan, Lebanon and Egypt accepted the resolution – while disagreeing over interpretation – and began discussions with the UN Special Representative appointed to implement it.
10) The Lie: “Much is made in US propaganda about Israel’s eagerness to make peace after the 1967 war… in August 1967, Yigal Allon had advanced his ‘Allon plan,’ which became official policy a year later… No other Israeli initiatives are known… The terms ‘territorial compromise’ and ‘land for peace’ are used to refer to one or another version of the Allon plan, always rejecting entirely the Palestinian right to self-determination.”
The Truth: In July 1967, Prime Minister Levi Eshkol publicly confirmed Israel’s readiness to establish a Palestinian state. Similar ideas were voiced by Yigal Allon, Yitzhak Rabin and Moshe Dayan.252 In January 1976, Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin considered another plan for a Palestinian state. This was supported by Golda Meir, Yigal Allon and Ariel Sharon.

1) The Lie: It is acceptable to report the collateral damage by bombing error, the inadvertent and inevitable cost of war, but not the conscious and deliberate destruction of Afghans who will die in silence, invisibly not by design, but because it doesn't matter, a deeper level of moral depravity. People do not die of starvation instantly. They can survive on roots and grass, and if malnourished children die of disease, who will seek to determine what factors lie in the background?
The Truth: America had been the largest supplier of food to Afghanistan for a decade and provided two-thirds of food aid after 9/11, saving the country from famine. The UN Global Ambassador on Hunger wrote that there was ion starvation this winter in Afghanistan, thanks to a humanitarian assistance budget wisely provided by the Bush administration. The head of the World Food Program in Kabul said that it was clear that a possible famine had been averted.
2) The Lie: Western civilization is anticipating the slaughter of, well do the arithmetic, 3-4 million people or something like that [in Afghanistan]. Looks like what's happening is some sort of silent genocide we are in the midst of apparently trying to murder 3 or 4 million people.
The Truth: Far from killing millions, the American occupation of Afghanistan saved lives. UNICEF figures indicate that the deaths of 112,000 children and 7,500 pregnant women will be prevented every year as a result.
3) The Lie: The [Afghanistan] war aim announced on October 12, five days after the bombing began, was that the Taliban leadership should hand over to the United States people who [sic] the US suspected of participating in terrorist actions.
The Truth: The war aim, announced by President Bush on the first day of bombing, was to disrupt the use of Afghanistan as a terrorist base of operations, and to attack the military capability of the Taliban regime.
4) The Lie: Many who know the conditions well are also dubious about bin Laden's capacity to plan that incredibly sophisticated operation from a cave somewhere in Afghanistan. It's entirely possible that bin Laden telling the truth when he says that he didn't know about the operation.
The Truth: Shortly after 9/11, bin Laden said that he had known of the plan and had used his engineering skills to calculate how much damage the planes would inflict on the World Trade Center. The 9/11 planners, Khaled Sheikh Mohammed and Ramzi Binalshibh, said that they executed the death flights with the approval of bin Laden.
5) The Lie: They [i.e., the terrorists] are carrying out enormous atrocities in response to the real atrocities for which were responsible and which continue to this day. It may matter little to us here, and virtually no one in the West cares. But that doesn't imply that it doesn't matter to the victims.

1) The Lie: The [9/11] terrorist attacks were major atrocities. In scale they may not reach the level of many others, for example, Clintonís bombing of the Sudan with no credible pretext, destroying half its pharmaceutical supplies and killing unknown numbers of people (no one knows, because the US blocked an inquiry at the UN and no one cares to pursue it).
The Truth: After al-Qaeda destroyed American embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, killing hundreds, America bombed an alleged chemical weapons factory in Sudan. The bombing was conducted at night so that civilians would not be hurt. 182 One security guard died. Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, Oxfam and Doctors Without Borders were all free to investigate and none alleged that the bombing caused mass deaths surpassing 9/11.
2) The Lie: [In Bosnia] there was one famous incident which has completely reshaped the Western opinion and that was the photograph of the thin man behind the barb-wire [at the Trnopolje camp] the place was ugly, but it was a refugee camp, I mean, people could leave if they wanted.
The Truth: Trnopolje was a concentration camp where victims were imprisoned during the process of ethnic cleansing and subjected to systematic starvation and rape, as well as random violence and murder.
3) The Lie: ì[UNITA] had also announced a new campaign of urban terror,í Associated Press reported [in April 1984], noting a bombing in Luanda in which 30 people were killed and more than 70 injured when a jeep loaded with dynamite exploded in the city.
The Truth: UNITA claimed responsibility for bombing an army building in Huambo, not Luanda, adding ìthat the attack marked the beginning of UNITAís urban guerrilla campaign [emphasis added]. AP reported UNITA's claim to have bombed an army building and cited an official communist report from Luanda ìthat about 30 people were killed and more than 70 injured when a jeep loaded with dynamite exploded in the town [of Huambo].
4) The Lie: ìOnly a few months before he spoke [in June 1984], [George] Shultzís UNITA friends in Angola were boasting of having shot down civilian airliners with 266 people killed.
The Truth: UNITA claimed to have shot down government planes carrying hundreds of military personnel. The authorities said that first plane made an emergency landing because of technical problems, with no-one killed.
5) The Lie: [In November 1983,] UNITA in Angola took credit for shooting down an Angolan civilian airline with over a hundred people killed from South Africa and the United States support them so that whenever they shoot down a civilian airliner, thatís fine.
The Truth: UNITA claimed to have shot down a plane carrying government soldiers. The authorities said that it was a passenger airliner that crashed because of technical faults.
6) The Lie: the heroine of the popular struggle that overthrew the vicious Somoza regime in Nicaragua, Dora Maria Tellez, was denied a visa to teach at the Harvard Divinity School, as a terrorist. Her crime was to have helped overthrow a US-backed tyrant and mass murderer. Orwell would not have known whether to laugh or weep.
The Truth: In 1978, Dora Maria Tellez led a Sandinista attack on Nicaraguaís parliament building. The terrorists captured 1,500 civilian hostages, including children, and threatened to murder them unless their demands were met. The demands included a prisoner release and a $10 million ransom.
7) The Lie: What were the worst terrorist acts in the Middle East in the peak year, 1985? The second candidate would be the Israeli bombing of TunisÖ Tunis was attacked with smart bombs. People were torn to pieces, and so on, and the attack killed about seventy-five people, Tunisians and Palestinians. They were civilians This was, again, international terrorism.
The Truth: Israel bombed the PLO's headquarters in a suburb of Tunis. A report stated that the raid ìheavily damaged or destroyed buildings used by Force 17, the PLOís elite security wing while leaving others in the complex untouched.
8) The Lie: We might tarry a moment over the Israeli attack on the island off Tripoli north of Beirut [in 1984], in which Lebanese fishermen and boy scouts at a camp were killed One might ask why the murder of Lebanese boy scouts is a lesser atrocity [than the death of Israeli children at Maíalot].
The Truth: Israel bombed an ammunition dump on the island, known as a training facility for a jihadist faction allied to the PLO. Sources in the jihadist faction reported that there were 150 terrorists on the island and that 25 of them were hit.
9) The Lie: None [of the attacks on Israel] is remembered with more horror than the atrocity at Maíalot in 1974, where 22 members of a paramilitary youth group were killed in an exchange of fire.
The Truth: The PLO attack commenced with the murder of a father, a pregnant mother and their four-year-old child, with their five-year-old daughter shot in the stomach. The terrorists took over 100 schoolchildren hostage and threatened to massacre them unless their demands were met. They murdered 22 teenagers, and wounded 56, during an Israeli rescue attempt.
10) The Lie: we might consider one of the early exploits of our most favored client state [Israel], the massacre on Oct. 28, 1948 at Doueimah [sic] leaving 580 civilians killed according to the accounting by its Mukhtar 100 to 350, according to Israeli sources, 1,000 according to testimonies preserved in US State Department records.
The Truth: Arab officials investigated these stories at the time, concluding that 27 had been murdered and that the information on the slaughter in Duwayma was exaggerated. The IDF also investigated and requested a field trial for the guilty officer.163 The crime was committed in revenge for Arab terrorist attacks that killed 2,000 Jewish civilians during the war.

1) The Lie: The only issue now is suicide bombers. And when did the suicide bombings begin? Last year [2001], on a major scale. One year of Palestinian crimes against Israel after thirty four years of quiet. Israel had been nearly immune. I mean, there were terrorist attacks on Israel but not from within the occupied territories.
The Truth: Suicide bombings in Israel began in 1994, less than a year after the Oslo Accords that created the Palestinian Authority. Hundreds of Israelis died in suicide bombings and other terrorist attacks from the West Bank and Gaza before the collapse of the peace process in late 2000.
2) The Lie: as soon as the current fighting began last September 30 [2000], Israel immediately, the next day, began using US helicopters to attack civilian targets. In the next couple of days they killed several dozen people in apartment complexes and elsewhere. The fighting was all in the occupied territories, and there was no Palestinian fire. The Palestinians were using stones.
The Truth: Palestinian forces were using gunfire. Reports spoke of Palestinians sniping from rooftops and inside abandoned buildings; referred to gunmen shooting at the Israelis, causing the army to send helicopter gunships to provide cover fire for rescuers; and stated that Israeli troops and Palestinian gunmen shot at each other.
3) The Lie: [In 1982] the US-backed Israeli attack on Lebanon brought the superpowers close to nuclear confrontation as Israel attacked the forces of a Soviet ally, Syria, which had not attempted to impede the Israeli onslaught.
The Truth: The superpowers did not come close to nuclear confrontation; the Soviets did not threaten war in support of Syria and barely reacted to the first Syrian-Israeli clashes.
4) The Lie: [Israel was] holding the city [of Beirut] hostage in an effort to compel the PLO to withdraw completely, as it did, to save the city from total destruction.
The Truth: Far from trying to save the population, the PLO was threatening its annihilation. Yasser Arafat warned that ìif the Israelis attempted to break into West Beirut, the PLO would simultaneously blow up 300 ammunition dumps and bring holocaust down on the city.
5) The Lie: Whether the PLO will be able to maintain the image of heroism with which it left Beirut [in 1982] is another question as Israel and its partisans desperately hope, the PLO, under conditions of dispersal and disarray, may return to random terrorism and abandon its dangerous posture of political accommodation.
The Truth: Before the 1982 war, the PLO sponsored terrorists all over the world, including neo-Nazis; made preparations to bombard Israeli cities; and committed extensive atrocities in Lebanon.242 During the war, PLO heroism included using child soldiers and placing military targets next to schools, hospitals, churches and apartment buildings.
6) The Lie: ìThe 1973 war was a clear case of an Arab attack, but on territory occupied by Israel, after diplomatic attempts at [a] settlement had been rebuffed. Hence it is hardly an undisputed historical factí that in this case the war had to do with ëthe existence of the Jewish state.
The Truth: Syria pledged to ìregain our positions in our occupied land and continue then until we liberate the whole land.239 Egypt announced: The issue is not just the liberation of the Arab territories occupied since June 5, 1967Ö [for] if the Arabs are able to liberate their territories occupied since June 5, 1967 by force, what can prevent them in the next stage from liberating Palestine itself by force?
7) The Lie: ìIt is not even controversial that in 1967 Israel attacked Egypt. Jordan and Syria entered the conflict much as England and France went to war when Germany attacked their ally Poland in 1939 [i.e., to defend an ally].
The Truth: Israel was defending itself against forcible blockade by Egypt. Nasser had stated: We knew that by closing the Gulf of Aqaba it might mean war with Israel the objective [of war] will be to destroy Israel. Egypt had warned Israel that either it will die by strangulation in the wake of the Arab military and economic blockade, or it will die by shooting from the Arab forces surrounding it in the south, north and east. Syria and the other Arab regimes also declared that their goal was to destroy Israel.
8) The Lie: [An Israeli expert] observes that ëthe Arabsí objective of destroying the state of Israel drives them to [seek] genocide. This is a possible, but not an absolutely necessary, interpretation of such proposals.
The Truth: In 1948, the Arab League announced a war of extermination and a momentous massacre. In 1967, Syria wanted to explode Zionist existence. Iraq planned to get rid of the Zionist cancer in Palestine. The PLO vowed that ìno-one will remain alive. The 1968 PLO covenant pledged to destroy the Zionist and imperialist presence in Palestine. In 1979, the PLO warned that there will be only Arabs in this part of the world and promised to shed rivers of blood when destroying Israel.
9) The Lie: It might be noted that the boundaries of Zionist aspirations in Ben-Gurionís vision were quite broad, including southern Lebanon, southern Syria, today's Jordan, all of cis-Jordan, and the Sinai.
The Truth: The archives show that Ben-Gurion rejected expansionism: When we agreed to the Partition Plan, we accepted it in all honesty. We did this not because the plan was good or just, but because a small area received through peaceful means was preferable to us than a large area won by fighting.
The Lie: Israel and Jordan were acting in accord with a secret agreement to partition Palestine in 1947-8, both of them regarding the Palestinian leadership as a primary enemy.
The Truth: The Zionists told Jordanís King Abdallah that ìwe could not promise to help his incursion into the country, since we would be obliged to observe the UN Resolution for the establishment of two states in Palestine (Golda Meir). Israelís leaders took the unanimous view that an Arab Palestine is here to stay (Moshe Sharett) and that ìwe will not be able to agree lightly to the annexation of parts of Palestine to Transjordan (David Ben-Gurion).
Terrorism has been defined throughout the international community as a crime against humanity. As such, the state of Israel not only had the right but also the obligation to do everything in its power to lessen the impact and scope of terrorism on the citizens of Israel.
The security fence in an operational concept conceived by the Israeli Defense Establishment in order to reduce the numbers of terrorist attacks whether in the form of explosive-rigged vehicles or in the form of suicide bombers who enter into Israel with the intention of murdering innocent babies, children, women and men.
Hypocrisy:
Morocco - Sahara: The great wall of Morocco known as "the security belt" is a defensive wall of 2720 kms (1690 mi) long. It serves to protect Morocco from hostile intentions of Polisario.
Pakistan - Afghanistan: Pakistan built a 2400 kms (1490 mi)barrier to separate itself from Afghanistan.
India - Pakistan: As well India built its 3300 kms (2050 mi) wall to separate itself from neighboring Pakistan.
South Korea - North Korea: South Korea protects itself from North Korea with a barrier of 250 kms (154 mi).
Saudi Arabia - Yemen: Saudi Arabia built 1770 kms (1100 mi) concrete wall with sophisticated electronic monitoring devices. The wall is intended to prevent Yemenite infiltration into the country. The barrier costs over 700 million dollars. Little matters the anger of local Yemenite tribes denouncing the reduction of Yemenite territory by 7 kms (4 mi).
(and Iraq) As well Saudi Arabia erects a 900 kms (500 mi) ultra modern barrier on its border with Iraq.
Turkey (Cyprus): Turkey claims part of the island of Cyprus and delimits that territory by a barrier of 300 kms. (187 mi)
Thailand - Malaysia: Since 2007, Thailand erected a 75 kms (46 mi) barrier along its most accessible border with Malaysia. According to Bangkok, its purpose is to prevent southern troubled provinces Muslim terrorists from entering the northern part of the country.
Uzbekistan - Tajikistan: Uzbekistan erected a closure of 1283 kms (797 mi) along its border with Tajikistan.
United Arab Emirates - Oman: United Arab Emirates are in the process of building 410 kms (255 mi) barrier on their border with Oman.
Kuwait - Iraq: Kuwait reinforces the exiting 215 kms (134 mi) structure along its border with Iraq.
United States - Mexico: What about United States? What about Obama and his speech in Cairo? What about this land of liberty and the Mexican border? The 3360 kms (2087 mi) length wall between United states and Mexico is being erected to protect the U.S from Mexicans who try to enter illegally the country in order to escape poverty and misery.
And what about Europe? Always so ready to condemn certain others?
Spain - Ceuta and Melilla Spain of Javier Solana and Moratinos erected an electrified barrier of 11 kms (7 mi) guarded continuously by soldiers at Melilla, as well at its border with Ceuta, The fence's long 11 (7 mi) kms and consists of parallel 3-metre (10-foot) fences topped with barbed wire, with regular watchposts and a road running between them to accommodate police patrols or ambulance service in case of need. Underground cables connect spotlights, noise and movement sensors, and video cameras to a central control booth; dozens of Guard ships and patrol boats check the coast, while 621 Guardia Civil’s officers and 548 police officers control the shore.
It serve to protect Spain from illegal Moroccan and sub Saharan workers who try to enter its territory to escape famine.
Ireland (Belfast) There are also the famous "walls of Ireland", length of 0.5 kms (0.310 mi), where for over thirty years, Catholic and Protestants desire to be separated from each other. For this, roads have been cut in order to end the throwing of stones, Molotov cocktails, hand grenades and various other projectiles. Entire areas of Belfast have been disfigured, homes destroyed and residents ex-pulsed in total general international indifference.
BUT THE ONLY WALL CALLED "THE WALL OF SHAME" IS THE ONE BUILT BY THE STATE OF ISRAEL!!!
For Israel however the benefit of such wall is without question: Between 2002 and 2008, the number of victims of suicide bomb attacks on its soil has fallen from 451 to 7. This fall of 98.5% (!!!) does not of course apply at Eilat, nor Dimona, nor along the Judean desert as these areas are not yet enclosed in the security barrier.
It is more legitimate to build a wall in order to protect oneself from immigrants living in poverty and misery than to do it in order to prevent the entering of TERRORIST, SUICIDE BOMBERS?

From 1517-1917 Turkey's Ottoman Empire controlled a vast Arab empire, a portion of which is today Lebanon, Syria, and Palestine.
During World War I (1914-1918), Turkey supported Germany. When Germany was defeated, so were the Turks. In 1916 control of the southern portion of their Ottoman Empire was "mandated" to France and Britain under the Sykes-Picot Agreement, which divided the Arab region into zones of influence. Lebanon and Syria were assigned (mandated) to France... and "Palestine" (today's Jordan, Israel and "West Bank") was mandated to Great Britain.
Because no other peoples had ever established a national homeland in "Palestine" since the Jews had done it 2,000 years before, the British "looked favorably" upon the creation of a Jewish National Homeland throughout ALL of Palestine. The Jews had already begun mass immigration into Palestine in the 1880's in an effort to rid the land of swamps and malaria and prepare for the rebirth of Israel. This Jewish effort to revitalize the land attracted an equally large immigration of Arabs from neighboring areas who were drawn by employment opportunities and healthier living conditions. There was never any attempt to "rid" the area of what few Arabs there or those Arab masses that immigrated into this area along with the Jews!
In 1923, the British divided the "Palestine" portion of the Ottoman Empire into two administrative districts. Jews would be permitted only west of the Jordan river. In effect, the British had "chopped off" 75% of the originally proposed Jewish Palestinian homeland to form an Arab Palestinian nation called Trans-Jordan (meaning "across the Jordan River"). This territory east of the Jordan River was given to Emir Abdullah (from Hejaz, now Saudi Arabia) who was not even an Arab-"Palestinian!" This portion of Palestine was renamed Trans-Jordan.
Trans-Jordan and would again be renamed "Jordan" in 1946. In other words, the eastern 3/4 of Palestine would be renamed TWICE, in effect, erasing all connection to the name "Palestine!" However, the bottom line is that the Palestinian Arabs had THEIR "Arab Palestinian" homeland. The remaining 25% of Palestine (now WEST of the Jordan River) was to be the Jewish Palestinian homeland.
However, sharing was not part of the Arab psychological makeup then nor now. Encouraged and incited by growing Arab nationalism throughout the Middle East, the Arabs of that small remaining Palestinian territory west of the Jordan River launched never-ending murderous attacks upon the Jewish Palestinians in an effort to drive them out. Most terrifying were the Hebron massacres of 1929 and later during the 1936-39 "Arab Revolt." The British at first tried to maintain order but soon (due to the large oil deposits being discovered throughout the Arab Middle East) turned a blind eye. It became painfully clear to the Palestinian Jews that they must fight the Arabs AND drive out the British.
The Palestinian Jews were forced to form an organized defense against the Arabs Palestinians.... thus was formed the Hagana, the beginnings of the Israeli Defense Forces [IDF]. There was also a Jewish underground called the Irgun led by Menachem Begin (who later became Prime Minister of Israel). Besides fighting the Arabs, the Irgun was instrumental in driving out the pro-Arab British. Finally, in 1947 the British had enough and turned the Palestine matter over to the United Nations.
The 1947 U.N. Resolution 181 partition plan was to divide the remaining 25% of Palestine into a Jewish Palestinian State and a SECOND Arab Palestinian State (Trans-Jordan being the first) based upon population concentrations.
The Jewish Palestinians accepted... the Arab Palestinians rejected. The Arabs still wanted ALL of Palestine... both east AND west of the Jordan River. Our Palestinian Cousins started the '48 war, and in so doing released the warlike appetites of a nation of survivors, a people with no place to run, who had repressed their rage for millennia, and had now earned full title to it!
On May 14, 1948 the "Palestinian" Jews finally declared their own State of Israel and became "Israelis." On the next day, seven neighboring Arab armies... Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Yemen... invaded Israel. Most of the Arabs living within the boundaries of the newly declared "ISRAEL" were encouraged to leave by the invading Arab armies to facilitate the slaughter of the Jews and were promised to be given all Jewish property after the victorious Arab armies won the war.
The truth is that 70% of the Arab Palestinians who left in 1948 – perhaps 300,000 to 400,000 of them – never saw an Israeli soldier! They did not flee because they feared Jewish thugs, but because of a rational and reasonable calculus: the Jews will be exterminated; we will get out of the way while that messy and dangerous business goes forward, and we will return afterwards to reclaim our homes, and to inherit those nice Jewish properties as well. They guessed wrong; and the Arab Palestinians are still tortured by the residual shame of their flight. Their shame is so great because in their eyes running from Jews was like running from women. So much for the blatant lie about Jews throwing out all the [Palestinian] Arabs!
The remaining 30% either saw for themselves that these Jews would fight and die for their new nation and decided to pack up and leave or were driven off the land as a normal consequence of war. When the 19 month war ended, Israel survived despite a 1% loss of its entire population!
Those Arabs who did not flee became today's Israeli-Arab citizens. Those who fled became the seeds of the first wave of "Palestinian Arab refugees."The Arab propagandists and apologists almost never mentioned that in 1948, Arab armies launched a war against a one-day-old Israel. Instead he focused on the main consequence of that war: the creation of Arab refugees, stating that Israel "short of genocide" expelled 800,000 of them. This not only disagrees with UN estimates of a bit over 400,000 refugees but also ignores the fact that most of the Arabs/ Palestinians were encouraged to leave by the Arab World itself!
The end result of the 1948-49 Israeli War of Independence was the creation of a Jewish State slightly larger than that which was proposed by the 1947 United Nations Resolution 181. What remained of that almost-created second Arab Palestinian State was gobbled up by Egypt (occupying the Gaza Strip) and by (2) Trans-Jordan (occupying Judea-Samaria (a.k.a. the "West Bank" of the Jordan River) and Jerusalem.
In the next year (1950) Trans-Jordan formally merged this West Bank territory into itself and granted all those "Palestinian" Arabs living there Jordanian citizenship. Since Trans-Jordan was then no longer confined to one side of the Jordan River, it renamed itself simply "Jordan." In the final analysis, the Arabs of Palestine ended up with nearly 85% of the original territory of Palestine... called Jordan but in reality their ARAB "Palestinian state!
But that was still not 100% and thus the conflict between Arab and Jew for "Palestine" would continue through four more wars and continuous Arab terrorist attacks upon the Israeli citizenry. It continues to this very day. From 1949-67 when all of Judea-Samaria [West Bank & Jerusalem] and Gaza ... were 100% under Arab [Jordanian & Egyptian] control, no effort was EVER made to create a second Palestinian State for the Arabs living there.
Surely you do not expect Israel to now provide these same Arabs with their own country when their fellow Arabs failed to do so! And isn't it curious how Arafat and his PLO (formed in 1964) discovered their "ancient" identity and a need for "self-determination" and "human dignity" on this very same West Bank ONLY AFTER Israel regained this territory (three years later in 1967) following Jordan's attempt attempt to destroy Israel!
Why was no request ever made upon King Hussein of Jordan by the Arabs living on the West Bank when he occupied it? Is it logical that the PLO was formed in 1964 to regain the lands they would lose three years later in 1967? This sort of logic makes sense only to those who who have not learned that the PLO was formed to DESTROY Israel. And that is STILL their goal!
A cosmetic name change from PLO (Palestine Liberation Organization) to PA (Palestinian Authority) does not change the stripes on THIS tiger!
Throughout much of May 1967, the Egyptian, Jordanian and Syrian armies mobilized along Israel's narrow and seemingly indefensible borders in preparation for a massive invasion to eliminate the State of Israel. The battle cry heard throughout the Arab world was then, as it continues to be... "Slaughter the Jews" and "Throw the Jews into the Sea!" But the Jews of Israel, remembering 2,000 years of being butchered, gassed, burned and skinned (eg. The Crusades, The Spanish Inquisition, the Arab rampages of early Palestine and particularly the Holocaust), planned and executed a perfect pre-emptive strike against Egypt. Within two hours the Egyptian Air Force did not exist... most of its planes destroyed while still on the runways! Unaware that the Egyptians had no more air force, King Hussein of Jordan, launched his attack from the his West Bank into Israel's belly while Syrian troops prepared to descend down the Golan Heights high ground into northern Israel.
Now for some facts about "occupation." Firstly, the Egyptians, Jordanians and Syrians lost Gaza, the West Bank and Golan Heights (respectively) by participating in a failed attempt at genocide against the Children of Israel. Had Israel lost this 1967 defensive war, the Arab-Palestinians and their Arab allies would have raped, butchered or driven out every Israeli they could get their hands on and gobbled up all of Israel. Now, 35+ years later and despite the fact that Israel won a war BROUGHT UPON THEM, the Israelis are still willing to allow the Arab-Palestinians to have a state on much of the West Bank and Gaza if only they will stop sending their suicide/homicide bombers into the heart of Israel! (Talk about misplaced compassion!)
From 1948 to 1967, Egypt ruled Gaza, Syria ruled the Golan Heights, while Jordan ruled the West Bank. They could have set up independent Arab-Palestinian states in any or all of those territories, but they didn't even consider it. Instead, in 1967 they used the Golan Heights, Gaza and the West bank to launch a war that was unambiguously aimed at destroying Israel, which is how Israel came into possession of those territories in the first place.
After ONLY six days of air, sea and hand-to-hand ground warfare, Israel defeated all three Arab armies along three separate fronts, taking control of the entire Sinai Desert from Egypt, the 37mile x 12mile Golan Heights from Syria and the West Bank (including East Jerusalem and its Old City) from Jordan.
The God of Israel was surely watching over His children!
Most importantly was the return to Israel of its holy 3,000 year old capital city of Jerusalem along the western edge of the West Bank... the same Jerusalem from which all Jews had been denied access for the 19 years (1948-1967) following Jordan's seizure and control over it following the first Arab-Israeli War of 1948-9.
Unfortunately, the world saw things differently and considered Israel an "occupier" of this disputed "West Bank" and the Gaza Strip along with the 850,000 Palestinian Arabs living there. These Arabs would refer to themselves as "refugees" and joined the masses of refugees from the first Arab- Israeli war of 1948-9. Once again Israel was forced to fight a battle for survival and, sadly, once again Palestinian [in reality, Jordanian and Egyptian] Arabs becoming refugees by their own actions, the actions of their leaders and from the actions of fellow Arabs from neighboring states!
ISRAEL SCREWS UP TOO! Israel was responsible for bringing about some of its own problems. The Arabs in the West Bank and Gaza Strip were packed and ready to leave following their 1967 defeat. Suddenly the victorious one-eyed IDF General Moshe Dayan persuaded them to stay. This singular act stunned no 0ne more than the Arab enemy himself who could not believe such an incredible manifestation of Jewish madness!
After all, the Arabs knew what THEY would have done to the Jews if they had won! Dayan's plan was to educate them, offer them modern medical treatment, provide them with employment both in the West Bank, Gaza AND inside Israel Proper itself... living amongst each other in hopes of building bridges to the Arab world. Israel is now paying dearly for this typically naive "Leftist" gesture. That "bridge" led to two Intifadas and world-wide Arab-Palestinian terrorism. From a frightened and defeated enemy, these "Palestinian" Arabs under Israel's jurisdiction turned into a confident, hateful and dangerous enemy now on their way toward forming a terrorist state determined to destroy Israel!
Note: When people say Jordan (first called Trans-Jordan) is an Arab-"Palestinian" State, they are correct!
Jordan accounts for 3/4 of Palestine's original land mass. Though they may call themselves "Jordanians," they are culturally, ethnically, historically and religiously no different than the Arab-"Palestinians" on the "West Bank." Even the flag of Jordan and the flag of the proposed 2nd Arab-Palestinian state on the West Bank / Gaza look almost identical. So, if the Arab-Palestinians and Jordanians think of themselves as one and the same,
why should WE fall for the lie that the Arab Palestinians west of the Jordan River are any different from the Jordanian Arabs on its eastern shore?
Usually when one side starts a war and loses both the war AND some territory, no one on the planet would expect the winner to give back anything! This not only sounds preposterous, it IS preposterous! But the Jews (I hate to admit) had such an insane obsession of wanting the world to love them that they were willing to give back the entire Sinai Desert (oil fields, air bases and endless miles of security buffer) to Egypt for a piece of paper. Thus, in 1982 Egypt regained their Sinai and Israel lost a massive buffer against any future Egyptian aggression! Thus far, Egypt has not aggressed against Israel militarily; however, the basest, anti-Semitic vile to come out of Egypt is not unlike the worse of Nazi anti-Jewish propaganda! This 1982 Camp David Peace Accord has to be the coldest peace deal in history!
Israel still occupies "Syria's Golan Heights" which, prior to the 1967 war, had been by Syria used solely for terrorist incursions into and artillery bombardment upon Israel's northeastern settlements. The Golan should never be given back to Israel's most vicious enemy!
And of course, Israel still "occupies" the West Bank with its ONE MILLION TWO HUNDRED THOUSAND and Gaza with its EIGHT HUNDRED THOUSAND "Palestinian" Arabs. Had Israel done to these Arabs what the Arabs would have done to the Jews had THEY won, she would have expelled these hostile Arabs and made it officially part of a Greater Israel! But by remaining an "occupier," Israel set herself up for a campaign of vicious propaganda.
Yaalon: Arabs resorting to propaganda after losing wars
Israel's Arab enemies have resorted to a propaganda campaign after realizing they cannot defeat the Jewish State on the battlefield, Deputy Prime Minister Moshe (Bogi) Yaalon says.
"When the Arabs realized they cannot defeat us with their armies, they turned to terrorism and rockets," Yaalon told Ynet in a special interview Wednesday. "Now they are realizing that they cannot defeat us this way either, so they are taking the path of de-legitimization."
Arab propaganda efforts had an effect mostly in Europe and in some parts of the United States, the deputy PM said.
"The success of Israel's de-legitimization stems from several elements, such as the new anti-Semitism, which at this time is manifested through anti-Israel sentiments in practice," he said. "There is another group, the liberals, some of whom are radicals while others are naïve. People who compare our security fence to the Berlin Wall, for example, are naïve."
'Flawed British policy' Yaalon said he believes that Israel's diplomats across the world are at fault for the current situation.
"For years we neglected public diplomacy. We haven't done enough," he said. "Not always those who represent us are worthy of representing us, especially when we examine the manner in which they do so. During my travels I encountered some people who simply cannot be representing us. This is why the government decided to travel and speak across the world. Ministers, including myself, are traveling abroad and explaining our position."
Addressing the recent arrest warrant issued against former Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni in England, Yaalon said he warned former British Prime Minister Tony Blair more than two years ago about the "flawed policy in respect to arrest warrants against myself and other senior Israeli officials."
"To my regret, nothing had been then since then, and now Britain is the only state where we are facing such problem," he said. "We need to tell the Brits that we're in the same boat, as their commanders in Iraq and Afghanistan clearly say."

While we "negotiate", stop launch missiles to the power station that supply electricity to Gaza or to south Israel. Stop Hamas of stealing the humanitarian supply that we are sending to you. Stop to use our gas supply for making more Qassam missiles instead to fuel your cars. Then, we can keep negotiate for peace.
